Somprasong Songcharoen, MD, FACS
Somprasong Songcharoen, MD, is one of plastic surgery’s highly respected and admired surgeons. His specialties are plastic and reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, head and neck surgery, and cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Songcharoen received a Diploma in Sciences from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Medical Sciences and Siriraj Hospital in Thailand. He completed his internship at the Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Songcharoen served his Surgical Residency at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, and his Fellowship in Hand Surgery at the Grace Hospital. He completed his Residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Dr. Songcharoen is certified by the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and has the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the International College of Surgeons, and the Royal College of Surgeons, Thailand. In addition, Dr. Songcharoen has been elected to memberships in many of the profession’s most exclusive and respected medical societies, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, American Association for Hand Surgery, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Academy of Aesthetic and Restorative Surgery, International Federation of Surgical Colleges, American Society of Breast Disease, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Lipoplasty Society of North America, and many others.
Recognized for his surgical expertise for more than 25 years, Dr. Songcharoen has served as Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson, Chief of Staff at HealthSouth Surgicare of Jackson, and Chief of the Plastic Surgery Section at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson.
Over the years, he has published and presented dozens of articles and research findings covering many of the most common reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery procedures, including hand surgery. He has spent much time abroad as a medical instructor and received the first Vargas International Hand Therapy Teaching Award from the American Association for Hand Surgery.

Dr. Songcharoen and his wife, Dr. Suthin, a rheumatologist, have three children, Marisa, Marci, and Jay.
